STOP PRESS......
The deadline for filing employer end-of-year returns is 19 May. Employers with 50 or more employers must file online, while those with fewer than 50 employees have the option to file on paper or online.
A new, short film, which can be downloaded onto an iPod or viewed online, shows the main features of HMRC's PAYE Online system. The podcast can be downloaded for free from HMRC's podcast page at <http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/podcasts> or from iTunes.

We tried it and DID NOT liked it at all....
If you purchase goods on the internet (compared tos ervices and dowlodable softare), be aware that HM Revenue & Customs will charge Customs/Import duty. For more details click here.
Even more painfully, the Royal mail will charge a whopping £8 flat-rate "handling fee" on the top of this. For further comments on the subject click here.

NEW PENALTIES FOR TAX RETURN ERRORS
HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) is introducing one of its first pieces of cross cutting tax legislation to make the tax system simpler and more consistent. This legislation introduces new penalties which aim to encourage and help people who try to get it right, but to come down hard on those who deliberately don’t. An online learning module to raise awareness of the new penalties for errors on tax returns and documents will be available from 1 May 2008.
