TIP OF THE WEEK
Easy access to powerful IT tools and cheap networks to help project and customer relationship management means that firm with the best processes (order fulfillment, field installation, job closing) can only secure short term wins, as rivals are striking back with their own IT-based process innovations.
To keep a competitive edge in this environment, McAfee and Brynjolfsson recommend a three-step strategy: 1) Deploy a consistent technology platform, rather than stitching together a jumble of legacy systems, 2) Constatntly improve your ways of working, 3) Propagate process innovations widely throughout your company.
