New pension measures to help employers
New measures designed to ease the administrative and financial burdens on employers running pension schemes were announced. Following discussions with stakeholders, employers will now be able to 'self certify' that their pension scheme meets the quality standard based on the expected value of pension contributions to be made over the course of each coming year.
The Bill states the quality standard for a money purchase scheme is that members receive contributions of 8% of qualifying earnings, of which 3% are made from the employer.

Will the Deal Deliver on Its Promise?
While a deal may look great on paper, it can fail to deliver on its promises as negotiators focus too much on closing deals and not enough on ensuring their agreements will work in practice. To avoid this mistake, imagine being one year into implementation of the deal, before inking an agreement and ask:
1. "What is the deal delivering and what metrics are you using to measure its success?
2. "What has gone wrong so far and how were you be able to get these problems fixed?
3. "What skills you have to accomplish the deal's objectives?"

Consumers stand up for their statutory rights
Consumers are more likely to stand up for their statutory rights than seek help or advice from official sources, a major new survey reveals. In a new Ipsos MORI survey of over 900 people from across England and Wales, more than half of consumers said they would tackle the owner or manager if they were sold faulty, unsafe or wrongly described goods or confronted by poor hygiene in a restaurant. Only around a third said they would turn to official sources - such as the local council, Citizens Advice Bureau or Consumer Direct - for help or advice. Nearly one in 10 would take no action or were unsure of where to ask for help.
